Dr Lefteris Karagiannidis is a Chemical Engineer with a PhD on Heat Transfer – Thermodynamics of Refrigerants Fluids. He has a 27 years’ experience on environmental management and Health and Safety Issues. For the last 15 years he is teaching Mobile Air-conditioning and Thermodynamics at the Automotive Engineering dept. of Technical University of Thessaloniki, in Northern Greece. He has participated in numerous vocational training seminars addressed to engineers, on environmental management and health and safety issues. He is collaborating with the National Hellenic Institute of Occupational Health and Safety (ELINYAE) for the training of engineers and Safety Managers on Occupational Risk Analysis and Management issues.
During the last ten years has participated in several European Union Vocational and Educational Training (VET) projects either as a member of Technical Working Groups either as Project Manager. During these projects the occupational educational profiles of wastewater, solid waste management, healthcare and health and safety managers were identified. The required professionals’ qualifications and their training curricula were also determined.
At the moment Dr. Lefteris Karagiannidis is Head of Technical Services and Products Development Dept. of Environmental Chemicals Company (ENVICHEM – www.envichem.gr), situated in Northern Greece. Environmental Chemicals supplies specialised chemicals to different sectors of chemical industries aiming to the improvement of wastewater and industrial water operations and provides consulting and technical services on environmental and health and safety issues.
At the past Dr. Lefteris Karagiannidis was occupied by a chemical (crop protection products) company as Head of Technical dept. He was responsible for the development of new crop protection products’ formulations and their licensing in European market. He was also occupied by a Technical and Consulting Company (SIGMA Consultants) involved in numerous environmental management, occupational Health and Safety and Risk analysis studies addressed both to public organisations and private companies originating from chemical, oil and gas, metallurgical, food, paper mill industries, tourism sector, etc. He was member of working teams and project manager of environmental impact studies, major technological accidents (SEVESO) consequences studies addressed to the above mentioned industrial and other sectors.
Dr. Lefteris Karagiannidis is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece. He was member of the Civil Protection Committee of the Technical Chamber of Greece consulting on major technological accidents issues and also a member of the Industrial Committee of the Hellenic Association of Crop Protection Industries and member of the Environmental dept. of the Hellenic Association of Chemical Industries.
He is co-author of more than 16 technical papers on environmental management and heat transfer issues, which were published in international refereed technical magazines and presented more than 30 projects in international conferences and seminars. His scientific works and studies is been cited by more than 150 other scientists, worldwide.
